7th Grade Pop Art Manikin Drawings
We've been some busy folks in the art room as of late, trying to get everyone's artwork finished in time for the Grand Celebration which took place over the weekend. It was my first time at the event (of course) and my, it was indeed a grand affair! I am proud to say all of the students' artwork turned out wonderfully and pulled in a considerable amount of money for the school during the silent auction. Thanks for all the parent support! If you were one of the lucky few who went home with framed artwork from your child's class, congratulations, and enjoy!
Here is a list of all the artwork which was for sale during the event:
K - Collage Heart - Large marker heart drawings cut up and pieced back together to create one collage heart.
1 - ABC Art - Each student decorated their own letter of the alphabet using bubble letters and tempra paint.
2- Ocean Fish Collage - Each student drafted their own fish drawing after we talked about the different features fish have - scales, fins, gills, etc. - and decorated it with marker.
3 - Rainbow Simple Designs - Students learned about shape and line, then used the two to create a simple design. Students colored their art with different colors of the rainbow, and the designs were pieced together in ROY G BIV order.
4 - Trimming the Tree - Students used templates to cut out the shapes of Christmas ornaments, and used fun Christmas themed scrapbook paper to decorate them! Ornaments were placed on a green "tree" background to create the seasonal art.
5 - 4 Piece Mosaic Coaster Set - After a lesson on radial symmetry, students worked in small groups (both classes chose Boys and Girls) to design their own coaster using glass pieces and small colored stones.
6 - Feather Collage - Students drafted their own individual feather drawings by observing a real feather. Drawing what they saw, students added intricate details and realistic color using colored pencil. Exacto knives were used to cut out the art.
7 - Manikin Pop Art - After a brief lesson on Andy Warhol's appropriation, students created their own collaborative pop art. Students made their own individual art by transferring an image and adding unique warm/cool color combinations.
8 - Photography Collage - Students spent time talking about composition in art and how it relates to photography. They used digital cameras to capture images from around the school using a theme of "What You Think of When You Think of IHM".
Not only have we been busy because of Grand Celebration, but also because of the end of the first Trimester. We've been completing projects and beginning new projects in just about every class, and what a crazy transition period! We only have one day of art class this week due to the Thanksgiving break, but get fired up about moving on to new things when we return to school - I have a feeling the next Trimester is going to move quickly, too!
