Would you believe the end of the school year has found us? Personally, I can hardly believe it is here already! It feels like we should have a few more weeks to keep plugging away at assignments... I would guess that a few classes would love to have that extra time to get their artwork completely finished; but, alas, we do not have that time - so the last two weeks have been the most chaotic the IHMCS Art Room has seen all year!
Lots of students have finally decided to take me up on the "I'll come in before school if you would like to have extra work time," "you can use your recess to do extra work," and "you can come hang out in Kids Care after school to have more work time" offers which have been in place all year. So to say the least, I'm a busy woman these days, and I've got lots of dedicated students who can vouch for me!
Glancing into my classroom these last two weeks, you might have guessed a tornado had torn through it! I will say (remembering back to the days when I had studio space to use on a regular basis) that a mess can be indicative of great art, and I think that is true in this case. I'm very impressed with the wonderful artwork all of my students have turned out in the last month, and in the scramble of the last week especially. As I sit here at my desk in the corner, looking out over my entire messy, messy Art Room, I think of what a happy art teacher I am. I am lucky to be able to have a mess... some art teachers don't have their own classroom, or don't have as much space, or as many messy materials. We are blessed to have all of the wonderful resources we have, which allow our students to create the variety of art that they do.
Please visit the gallery to see LOTS of new photos. Each grade will have some photos to take a look at. Please enjoy! And remember, messy isn't always so bad!
